The ladies at Get2Natural Beauty (G2N) have fully defied the saying, “Don’t get high on your own supply” as you’ll continuously see them at the forefront of their social media pages using and promoting their brand and we love to see it. Phumelele Khumalo, commonly referred to as Pk (30) and Nosihle Dlamini (29) officially launched Get2Natural Beauty in 2017 after having sat with the idea and tried different formulations in the kitchen.
The
driving force behind the launch of the Durban based company, G2N, was their
personal struggles of finding hair products that are realistic to their hair
types and hair goals. From then, they formulated oils best suited for each
individual’s hair porosity. These oils best complement the range of products
that G2N offers. Their hair products contain special healthy ingredients from
natural extracts, such as natural butters and aromatherapy oils in an effort to
improve the appearance, texture and manageability of African curly hair.
G2N
had initially started out as a brand that merely focuses on hair products but
with time and a growing customer base, they ventured to beauty products as
well. They now also produce face and body products made from botanical extracts
that work in unison with the skin’s naturally produced oils to help promote fresh,
soft skin with an even tone. The brand has a large social media presence which
they fuse with e-commerce, corporate presentation, exhibitions, newspaper and
radio adverts as part of their marketing.
Corporate
presentation has been a tactic that has never failed the G2N team as this
method forms an emotional connection between the owners and clients. They
strongly believe in involving and growing with their customers, and this they
do through tutorials on product use, discounts, early bird discounts and
updates within the company/product.

Phumelele
and Nosihle who simultaneously share a burning love for Christ say that their
organization culture is that of respect and excellence, between themselves and
their two part-time employees.
“Respect
and excellence is vital in maintaining harmony in our business. We however
didn’t sit down and establish these two values, they are just extensions of
what we were already striving for in our personal lives,” said Phumelele.
Both
alumnae of the Durban University of Technology; Phumelele with a Management
Diploma and Nosihle with a Master’s Degree (Cum Laude) in Biotechnology, the
foundation of G2N is undoubtedly very solid.
In
2019, the organization got selected as one of the five businesses in KZN to be
groomed into exporters by the Transnet Port Terminal and also received the
special recognition award during the Cleantech and GCIP forum held in Vienna,
Austria. As major as these achievements are, the owners insist that nothing
will ever compare to having a customer return to them with testimony on how
their products have helped them grow their hair after struggling to do so.
When asked what they wish they had done differently, they said they wished they had done more groundwork before commercializing their business. The ladies admit that they had to halt all marketing efforts when they learned that their products first need to be certified. This caused setbacks and resulted in a financial blow but they learned from that and now intentionally make use of tools like YouTube, workshops, and such to educate, inspire and enlighten themselves on how other entrepreneurs tackle and plan around their hectic schedules.
